KUALA LUMPUR - There are suspicions over manipulation of the PKR poll’s results and the central election committee’s failure to manage the voting procedure physically and online, a division chief post candidate says.

Setiawangsa division chief post candidate Datuk Afdlin Shauki said a police report had been lodged against the party’s central election committee since no action had been taken after his prior report to the committee.

"We have lodged a police report on what we saw happening during the party election.

"We made a report to the central election committee before, but no action has been taken, so we had to take action to make a report to the police to start an investigation into this matter,” he said after lodging the police report at Wangsa Maju district police station here yesterday.

He said there was also no news from the central election committee on whether a forensic audit would be done to check the management’s transparency on the voting procedure physically and online during the recent PKR polls.

He also mentioned a need for the forensic audit to be carried out since the Setiawangsa branch is not the only division that was suspicious of the results shown by the election committee.

"Hopefully, they (election committee and PKR leadership) will be doing the forensic audit to check on all the complaints from all over Malaysia that the numbers are not looking right.

"It is not just us in the Setiawangsa branch, but almost every other branch that we talked to, in Selangor or elsewhere, they are experiencing the same thing.

"We are not the only ones going to the police station to make a police report. I believe Gombak has also done the same, with many other divisions too,” he said.

When asked about his comment on Rafizi Ramli winning the deputy president post, he said everyone would be giving their support to him if there was no manipulation behind the results of the party’s poll.

"If he won it fairly, I would say we will all be behind him.

"Right now, the question is whether there is manipulation happening behind the scenes. We just want to clear that up because if that is cleared up, then we will be alright to move on with our lives,” he added.

Afdlin lodged the police report to protest the 2022’s PKR polls results for the Setiawangsa branch, where he lost in the race for the Setiawangsa division chief post to Setiawangsa Member of Parliament Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The actor garnered 372 votes compared with rival Nik Nazmi, who obtained 482 votes.
