KUALA LUMPUR - Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now seen as irrelevant, says Barisan Nasional (BN) advisory board chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Najib said this could be seen through the former premier’s campaign in the recent Johor State Election (PRN) in Ayer Hitam.

"The place where the grandfather (Dr Mahathir) campaigned in Ayer Hitam also lost the deposit, which means he’s no longer relevant.

"But I like that he repeatedly mentioned my name because the people are bored. They want to know what we can do for them.

"That is why, whatever he (Dr Mahathir) attacks personally, the ultimatum would be what we can do for the people and in this case, no other parties could oppose and replace BN,” he said.

Najib said this while addressing the BN Convention Council at Dewan Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center (WTCKL) today.

In his speech, Najib also stated that BN needed to tell the people to punish Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 15th General Election (GE15) for what they did.

Najib said he was stunned by PH’s actions to sell the country’s assets during the coalition’s administration.

"He (PH) sells assets. If we want to be rich, we have to add assets. When you add assets, you add the wealth of the country. When selling assets, what will the next generation eat?

"We were the second largest healthcare provider in the world (namely) IHH Healthcare Bhd, suddenly (it was) sold to Mitsui & Co. Loss of control,” he explained.

Apart from that, he said, PN should be penalised in GE15 for suspending Parliament while administering the country.

"They were scared. The truth is, there is no majority to debate in Parliament,” he said.
