PUTRAJAYA - The Health Ministry has not ruled out the use of cannabidiol or CBD as a medical treatment in the country.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said the move can be done if the study conducted showed evidence (evidence based) it was beneficial to the patient and treatment.
"It’s not impossible, we will also use it for treatment if it can be beneficial,” he said.
He said the use of CBD in treatment has become the talk of various parties after there were several countries started using it to treat chronic diseases.
"In Malaysia, we cannot move like other countries because it is still in the early stages but the ministry is open to clinical trials," he said at a press conference in conjunction with the Clinic Study Day celebration, here on Thursday.
