KUALA LUMPUR - Chants of Bossku and Reformasi could be heard as former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim walked in a hall for a live debate.
The debate is being held at Malaysia Tourism Centre (Matic), Kuala Lumpur.
Both the leaders were also greeted with loud applause by both sides of the aisle, while fans took the opportunity to click away from their cellphones for photos as the leaders walked in.
Both leaders will start the debate at 9pm live on various topic including on ailing oil and gas company Sapura Sapura Energy Bhd and on the political climate of the country.
The debate is co-organised by Sinar Harian as one of the media partners.
The question-and-answer session would be moderated by online news site Malaysia Gazette's editor Haslina Kamaludin.
Financially-troubled Sapura Energy, a government-linked company (GLC), had announced a loss of RM8.9 billion last year. Najib had said this was the largest for any Malaysian GLC in history.
Najib has been pushing for a bailout of the company. However, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli has been against the idea, stating the funds would benefit only "a handful of elites".
