KUALA LUMPUR - Speeding were among the highest six offences recorded during the nine days of Op Selamat 18.
Police Deputy Inspector-General Datuk Razarudin Husain said a total of 222,512 summonses were issued, and out of that 212,469 summonses were for speeding.
The remaining 3,613 summonses were for cutting queues (2,903), using mobile devices while driving (1,712), overtaking at double lines (1,080) and using emergency lanes (735).
He further said in a statement that 148 accidents involving 154 deaths also recorded nationwide within nine days of Op Selamat 18. Cops also received 14,536 accidents.
The highest number of deaths were among motorcyclists and pillion riders with 97 reported fatalities.
Selangor recorded the highest number of accidents (3,028), followed by Johor (2,105), and Perak (1,475).
