SHAH ALAM - Talk on Russia-Ukraine war expected to be highlight of the Wacana English Edition special with European Union (EU) titled "Global Challenges in a Multipolar World".
The three-man panelist will likely touch on how Malaysia - despite being thousands of miles away from the two states, has experienced a significant impact on the oil and gas, commodities and global chain.
Discussions will also circle around Malaysia’s membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council and how the EU has taken a strong proactive role in a bid to see the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
The Russian-Ukraine war has been ongoing for the past two months since Feb 24 this year with at least 46,000 deaths, 12,000 injured, 13 million displaced and at least for 400 still missing.
With no end in sight, experts have cited issues such as increase in oil and energy prices, commodity prices and interest rates as well as economic uncertainties as major impacts from the war on the average Malaysian.
Aside from the conflict, the panelist will also focus on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) game currently at play and its 45-year relationship with the EU.
The panelist are likely to discuss about Myanmar’s military junta leadership and what could be done to improve the situation.
The session will end with a question and answer (Q&A) session with the live studio audience, which includes the Czech Republic Ambassador to Malaysia Milan Hupcej, who will be giving the keynote speech; Germany Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Peter-Christof Otto Blomeyer; Poland Ambassador to Malaysia Krzysztof Debnicki; Ireland Ambassador Hilary Reilly; Finland Ambassador to Malaysia Sami Leino; and Austria Ambassador to Malaysia Adreas Launer among others.
