RANAU - There were no emergency reports received by the Fire and Rescue Department on the weak earthquake that happened in Kundasang, this morning.
However, Ranau fire station chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the situation around the Pekan Ranau area was still being monitored after the incident.
"So far, the department has not received any reports on the earthquake but we are monitoring the situation in the Pekan Ranau area.
"The situation is currently under control and and there were no property damages reported," he told Sinar Harian, today.
Earlier, a magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale occurred in Kundasang, Sabah, at 9.28am.
According to a statement by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the quake was detected 14 kilometres northwest of Ranau at a depth of 10 kilometres.
Tremors were also felt in Ranau, but there was no tsunami threat to the country.
