SHAH ALAM: The annual World #QuranHour is able to enhance the image of Islam and foster the culture of Quran in daily life be it via reading, appreciating or practicing the holy scriptures.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri has called for organisations, mosques, surau and individuals to spend an hour to interact with the Quran in conjunction with the World #QuranHour tomorrow.
Ismail said individuals could recite the Quran between 12noon and 1pm tomorrow, specifically the Al-Sajdah verse which was chosen for this year’s programme.
The verse, he said, could be used as a guide in our daily lives.
"Even for just an hour, I hope that the World #QuranHour could uphold the image of Islam and cultivate the appreciation of Quran in our life either from the aspect of reading, understanding or practising.
"I hope that the Al-Sajdah verse is not just read but should also be applied in our life. The verse serves as a guide to change the mind frame and unity through the economy and education aspects, giving us the strength to face the test by turning to Allah.
"Alhamdulillah, all praises to Allah SWT for allowing us to gather for the seventh edition World #QuranHour themed The World Prostrates,” he said in a statement today.
Ismail congratulated Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation for organising the World #QuranHour programme which could impact society, especially Muslims in increasing awareness to turn to the Quran.
He also expressed his appreciation towards the Department of Islamic Development, Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department, Islamic Tourism Centre, International Islamic University Malaysia, Public Libraries Council of Directors, Rumah Ngaji, Sahabah Al-Quran, government and non-governmental bodies.
World #QuranHour will be held tomorrow (April 26), Malaysia #QuranHour on Aug 30 and World #QuranConvention on December 17 and 18.
