KUALA LUMPUR - Police investigations are still open against an individual who allegedly insulted Prophet Muhammad through Uthaya Sankar SB’s Facebook account.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan said investigation is still ongoing.
"The police are still conducting investigations on the matter.
"The public is asked not to make any speculation that will affect the course of the investigation. The police also urge the public to utilize social media in the best way possible without touching on matters of religion and race,’’ he said to Sinar Harian today.
On April 11, the police detained a man in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, Selangor to help in the investigation regarding a social media posting that allegedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad on Facebook.
The 50-year-old suspect was detained at 11:15 am and the police seized a mobile phone allegedly used to commit the crime.
Investigations were made in accordance with Section 298A of the Penal Code for causing disharmony or feelings of hostility or detrimental to the unity and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network service.
