SINGAPORE - Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has extended the recall to include four additional Kinder chocolate products from Belgium following a new recall alert issued by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) due to the possible presence of Salmonella.

For the latest move, the agency has directed five importers to recall the implicated products.

"The recall is ongoing,” it said on its website today.

SFA had first announced the recall of one Kinder chocolate product on April 6 and had extended the recall to three more products on April 8.

According to SFA, Salmonella is a pathogenic bacterium that should not be present in ready-to-eat food.

Salmonella can cause foodborne illnesses including fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea, said the agency, adding that those who have purchased the implicated products should not consume it.
