SUBANG JAYA - Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confimed that he had met with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
"The meeting happened a long time ago. I do not deny that there was no meeting but the question arose regarding the coalition's decision to support him (Muhyiddin), " he said when met by reporters after a dinner to celebrate DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang at a hotel here on Friday.
Anwar, who is also Port Dickson MP, told reporters this after being asked about any cooperation efforts between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) following reports of Muhyiddin and Pas president Tan Sri Hadi Awang.
On Wednesday, the Pejuang President Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir revealed that Muhyiddin had met with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad two weeks ago regarding the coalition of parties in the 15th General Election (GE15).
This was followed by Hadi expressing his readiness to meet Dr Mahathir, who is also the Pejuang Chairman.
Anwar also informed that PH had never raised the question of supporting Muhyiddin as Prime Minister in any meetings held with the component parties.
Commenting on the clash between PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and former PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli for PKR deputy seat in the party election next month, Anwar said the competition will unlikely lead to divisions within the party as had happened before.
"This competition is more friendly and civilized and it will be based on priorities and policy direction.
"It will not involve revenge like competition in the past, and both have strong personalities and will not be treacherous in any way," Anwar said. He is also the party president.
