SEPANG - The Bill to ban smoking and possession of tobacco products, including vape for the generation born after 2005, will be tabled in Parliament in July.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said it was being finalised by the Attorney-General (AG) and was expected to be completed within the next two weeks
"Insya-Allah, it will be tabled in the next Parliament session in July.
"The Bill is being finalised by the AG and I think within a week or two it would be completed.
"Then, I will present it to the parliamentary health, science and technology special select committee," he told reporters after the launching ceremony of health community agent MyCHAMPION, here, on Saturday.
Also present was the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) co-director Datuk Dr Chong Chee Keong.
Earlier, Khairy had announced the introduction of the Act aimed at reducing the exposure of future generations to cigarettes and tobacco products as tobacco use was the leading cause of cancer and contributed to 22 per cent of deaths due to cancer.
