JOHOR BAHRU - It is time for Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad sat down to discuss joining forces for 15th the General Election.
Bersatu Malaysia Veterans Club treasurer Saifulanuar Yahya said all parties should put their egos and disputes and egos aside and focus on formulating a strategy together for GE15.
"The defeat of PN and PH in the Johor state election is actually a signal, this shows where the weaknesses of PN and PH are. This weaknesses can be fixed in GE15.
"We can use the same formula of political cooperation used during the GE14, which has been proven successful.
"The selection of the party logo or coalition logo to be used can be discussed later.
"We must learn from the mistakes of the Johor polls. Analysis found that voters who supported BN in the Johor polls were only 35 percent while another 65 percent supported PN and PH, ” he said at a press conference here on Sunday.
Commenting further, Saifulanuar said for other opposition parties such as Pejuang, Muda or Warisan, they can choose to join PN or PH but all must prioritise the spirit of solidarity and have the same goal of winning GE15.
"PN and PH can contest in all 222 parliamentary seats, we divide into two, PN contests 111 parliamentary seats, PH also contests 111 parliamentary seats, we divide it so that not a single seat is overlapped," he said.
Meanwhile, the club’s secretary Datuk Jemale Paiman said plans for PN, PH and other opposition parties to merge was not impossible, which has even been proven successful during GE14, where BN was finally thrown out of office after ruling for more than 60 years.
He added that it was very important that only two political coalitions contest in GE15 because as proven in the Johor state elections, PN and PH still lost despite BN has not been totally strong and was still rejected by the people.
