SHAH ALAM - Permatang Pasir Amanah state assemblyman Faiz Fadzil described Umno Youth and Puteri's call for a General Election (GE) as desperate as the party seemed to be neglecting the health and the economic issues of the rakyat amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to him, Melaka and Johor polls that were held separately from the general election cost almost RM140 million due to the implementation of the standard operating procedures (SOP) to prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the elections.

"The cost for the general election requires more than RM1 billion while the economy of the country has yet to recover.

"Why should the country's money be wasted when the rakyat is still struggling?” he said in a statement.

Commenting further, Faiz said the political crisis involving the "court and Putrajaya" clusters will continue which will lead to an unstable government.

Faiz also stated that another Sheraton Move could happen again apart from the inevitable downfall of the new government.

"Umno is currently governing, but it is evident that Umno does not manage to solve the economic and the health problems of the rakyat. Is it possible for Umno to solve the problems through a general elections?,” he asked.
