KUALA LUMPUR - Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan did not rule out a motion for GE15 may be submitted during Umno Annual General Assembly (AGM) 2021, which starts Wednesday.
He said Umno is open to proposals that will be brought in during the AGM as long as it does not touch on "sensitive matters."
"Umno is open to proposals and we will listen to whatever they have to discuss. However, I hope that the debate will focus not only on political issues.
"We also want to hear about Covid-19, economic improvement and issues on the relationship between races, religions, and so on," he said in a press conference as the party prepares itself for the four-day meet at the Umno Auditorium, Menara Dato 'Onn on Monday.
But he said: "Maybe someone will touch on GE15. We do not know yet since they are free to voice out as long as they do not touch on sensitive matters."
He said the motion to be debated during the AGM will be decided on Tuesday.
The Pontian MP further said the party in high spirits after the win in Melaka and Johor polls. In Sarawak, BN won 76 out of 82 seats or 93 percent of the votes.
"This will be raised by delegates and observers at assembly," he added.
A total of 5,571 delegates will be attending the gathering, out of which 2,680 will be from women and youth delegates.
Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will officiate the Umno meeting and will deliver a policy speech on Friday.
