SHAH ALAM - Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has urged for Johoreans to go out and vote in the state polls before 6pm, today.
He said this in a tweet after casting his vote at the polling centre at Sekolah Agama Taman Sri Lambak, Kluang.
Hishammuddin and his wife, Datin Seri Tengku Marsilla Tengku Abdullah, arrived at the polling centre at 11am to cast their ballots to elect the new assemblyman for Kahang.
Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Kahang seat, R. Vidyananthan had also casted his vote at the same school at about 11.50am today.
Earlier, BN candidate Datuk Samsolbari Jamali who is the incumbent Semarang assemblyman, arrived at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Bandan to vote, with his wife, mother and other family members at about 9.10am.
Meanwhile, Umno vice president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin arrived at the polling centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Rinting 1, Pasir Gudang, to vote at about 8.28am, today.
The Election Commission has placed 49,000 staff across 1,021 polling centres statewide.
The voting process began at 8am, today, and will end at 6pm for all 56 seats.
As of 2pm, the voter turnout was at 40 per cent.
