SHAH ALAM - All eyes are on Sultan Sulu's RM63 billion compensation during the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
This follows after the French Arbitration Court ordered Malaysia to pay the compensation to Sulu descendants.
De facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is expected to reply to this during Minister’s Question Time (MQT), including whether the government, through the Attorney-General Chambers would send a representative or a lawyer in France.
Previously, Sinar Harian reported that the claim made by the descendants of the Sultan of Sulu, Sultan Jamalul Kiram II against Sabah does not have an effect on the sovereignty of Malaysia.
The amount, according to history expert Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Teo Kok Seong, was also said to have been three million times the original, which he argued was "excessive amount”.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah was also reported to have said the claim was not recognised by the Putrajaya.
