SHAH ALAM: Nightclubs are told to remain shut from April 1 as the country moves into the endermic phase.
They are the only businesses not allowed to open.
In a press conference, Health minister Khairy Jamaluddin said these premises are still considered high risk of Covid-19.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said Malaysia will enter into the endermic phase from April 1.
Under this phase, businesses are allowed to open extended hours and according to their operating hours .
Khairy added that the endermic phase to be implemented nationwide will continue even if there was a surge in Covid cases.
However, he said the policy would only be reviewed if a new high-risk variant was reported worldwide.
In the past, nightclub operators have been up in arms with the government over the delay. They urged Putrajaya to review the policies as they run out of money to stay afloat after two years of lockdown.
