Former Astro CEO gives statement to MACC following Leissner’s revelations

Former Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd group CEO Rohana Rozhan said she had given full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the investigation.

SHAH ALAM - Former Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Rohana Rozhan, whose name cropped up in the multibillion-dollar 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) trial at the US court has given her statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

This was revealed in a brief statement issued by her lawyers from Messrs Valen, Oh & Partners.

"I refer to allegations in the media about me. I’ve attended the offices at the MACC and given them my full cooperation in their investigations,” Rohana said in the statement.

It was understood that she went to the MACC office to give her statement on Thursday.

On Tuesday, former Goldman Sachs banker Tim Leissner, told the US court that Rohana who was his former lover had blackmailed him into buying her a US$10 million home in London, according to a Bloomberg report.

Leissner was the key government witness in the bribery trial of his former colleague Roger Ng.

He testified that he bought the house for Rohana in 2013 after she had threatened to expose his involvement in the 1MDB scandal.

Their relationship lasted from 2003 to 2013.
