Education ministry says schools are given the option to operate from home

This applies to Standard one to Form 4 students

SHAH ALAM: Schools will be given the option to shut schools and conduct home base learning if Covid-19 cases continue to surge, the education ministry has said.

Deputy education minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the focus is on students sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examiniations.

"Primary and secondary schools,form one to four are given an option not to attend school, and carry out home-based teaching and learning (PdPR)."We are flexible and will assess the risks from time to time," he said after visiting SMK Bandar Putra 2 in Kulai. He said his ministry will report any Covid cases to the health ministry and district health officers to access the risk of infections, including in hostels.

Mohamad also said a decision if the Form Three Assessment (PT3) examination will be announced soon, adding that: "whether it will be postponed or canceled, we are still in the evaluation and discussing on the matter."- Bernama
