SHAH ALAM - Human rights lawyer Siti Kasim and former Umno MP for Sungai Benut Tawfik Ismail are among the candidates contesting for GE15 under Gerak Movement (Gerak).
Siti Kasim will be contesting in Batu.
The others are former journalist Charles CJ Chow (Subang), activist KJ John (Petaling Jaya), Wangsa Maju resident Raveentheran Suntheralingam (Wangsa Maju), and Sabah-based lawyer Roland Cheng (Kota Kinabalu).
Tawfik, the eldest son of the late Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman said Gerak is open to forming strategic alliances with other parties or "like-minded” individuals to strengthen the country's democratic system.
Gerak is a newly set up joint headed by Malaysian Action for Justice and Unity Foundation (Maju) with other NGOs and are pushing for independent candidates to become MPs in GE15.
Candidates’ profiles are available on the Gerak mobile application (Gerak App).
