JOHOR BHARU- Johor chapter of Party Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) is confident that the party will contest in the coming state election.
Johor Pejuang Leadership Council member Dr Zaini Abu Bakar said the party could stand as the third bloc in the state election, which has its own advantage compared to other established political parties.
However, Dr Zaini said the matter depends on Johor voters who may be confused as to which party to vote for due to the complex political situation.
"Pejuang is indeed a new party but we have to remember that the founder is a 97-year-old statesman, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is a political figure who needs no introduction and is known for his extensive experience in the political arena.
"I was informed that Pejuang will be contesting for 42 seats which can be deemed as both negative and positive.
"If the voters are confused on which established parties to vote for, they should vote for us (Pejuang),” he said to Sinar Harian.
Dr Zaini who is also a former Umno's Kota Iskandar assemblyman said Dr Mahathir is still relevant and is able to gain the trust from every layer of the society.
