SHAH ALAM - Youth activist Roshinee Mookaih talks about how she faced gender inequality when advocating for the Undi18 movement and political awareness in general.
The words thrown at here was "demotivating" and "scarring".
She clarified that the comments she received on her TikTok account that revolved around social justice issues or political advocacy had shown how easily others could invalidate her, her work and what she stood for.
"I think when people see me speaking, they are immediately antagonised by my face, my race, my gender and my age,” she said in an episode of Politically Frank by Sinar Daily aired on Feb 9.
"They say things like I’m too young or immature, I should go back to the kitchen or I should just return to India,” she added.
Roshinee said this had open her eyes to something even bigger in regards to women in political and the criticism that comes with.
"It is is even harder to imagine how the situation is for female politicians in the country face these inequalities by the public and sometimes even from their own colleagues," she said.
