SHAH ALAM – Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been transferred to the normal ward after spending almost a week at the National Heart Institute (IJN) Coronary Care Unit (ICU).
In a statement, his daughter Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir said her father was on the road to recovery.
This, she said was based on the assessment by a team of specialist doctors treating the Langkawi MP.
She said at the moment, both Dr Mahathir and Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali were not allowed to receive any visitors to prevent infection.
"Dr Mahathir is cheerful and in high spirits to fully recover.
"Once again, he and the rest of the family thank everyone who had been praying for his full recovery,” she said in the statement on Wednesday.
On Saturday, Marina said Dr Mahathir's condition was stable and that he was responding well to a further treatment after an elective procedure on Jan 8.
She said her father had been admitted for a follow-up treatment on Jan 20.
