KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the case of Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will not affect the campaigns in the upcoming Johor state election.

This, he said was because the court cases involving Umno political leaders have become a ‘diluted issue’.

"To what extent do people want to use court cases as a political mileage in elections. Prosecution is either ongoing or has been decided on.

"The case of former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been decided, on Zahid's case I don't know whether he will be ordered to enter his defence or not.

"It has been three years, I am not confident that this will be the main factor in the election,” he said at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex, here, today.

When asked about the High Court’s decision ordering Zahid to enter defence, Mohamad said he did not know what actually happened as he was not allowed to enter the courtroom.

He said only two people were allowed to enter and he waited outside while the judge delivered the verdict against the Bagan Datuk MP.

"I wasn’t allowed in because only two people were allowed.

"I was outside and did not know what happened inside,” he said.

Zahid was seen entering the courtroom at about 9.04am, today, for the decision of his case involving 47 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT), corruption and money laundering over the funds belonging to charity foundation Yayasan Akalbudi.
