SHAH ALAM - Baby Shark, the shark jingle that has pretty much earned its status as a cultural touchstone made history when it became the first YouTube video to surpass 10 billion views (and counting).
Created by South Korean educational company The Pinkfong Company, the video beats Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, with the video currently sitting at 7.7 billion.
The success of Baby Shark has spawned other entertainment products like its own TV animated series, called Baby Shark’s Big Show! on Nick Jr.
A feature film was also introduced in Netflix, called Pinkfong and Baby Shark’s Space Adventure and word has it a sequel is in currently in the works.
In an interview, chief executive officer of Pinkfong, Min-seok Kim said: "It has been a meaningful journey to witness how Baby Shark has connected people around the world and we can’t wait to introduce Baby Shark’s further adventures that will bring unparalleled experiences to even more fans everywhere.”
