The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday revealed there were violations to the standard operating procedures (SOP) when 17 out of 122 Omicron cases involving Umrah pilgrims as of Tuesday, were unvaccinated.

Its minister, Khairy Jamaluddin reportedly stated that they are monitoring the Umrah pilgrims and subsequently, the Home Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin even admitted that there were some flaws during the screening process that led to the 17 unvaccinated individuals being able to perform Umrah and return to Malaysia recently.

However, Hamzah stated that the blame should not be pinned on the Immigration Department as those who entered the national border have already brought their boarding pass.
