The educational institutions that are affected with floods can start operating once they are ready

SHAH ALAM - Educational institutions under the Minister of Education (MOE) that are affected by the floods will only start operating once they are in a state of readiness.

Based on the statement from the MOE, the institutions involved with floods or are made as the Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) will be monitored and updated every Wednesday.

"MOE would like to inform that the status of the educational institutions that are affected by the floods as of January 3, 2022, involves 18 educational institutions, 16 primary schools and two secondary schools that are still flooded.

"Meanwhile, 87 educational institutions are still made into temporary evacuation centers with eight educational institutions that are affected due to the floods, are not ready to start operating,” MOE said in a statement on Monday.

MOE also stated changes to the list of affected institutions are based on the current flood situations as there may be an increase or decrease in the number of institutions each week.

It added, the lists can be accessed through MOE’s official website at https://www.moe.gov.my/

"As for the educational institutions that have been cleaned and ready to start operating, the operation of the educational institutions will start on Sunday or Monday of the next school week.

MOE further explained, the educational institutions under the ministry refer to schools, vocational and matriculation colleges as well as teacher education institutes.

"It is also applicable to the private schools under the ministry.

"MOE is always committed to do the best,” said the statement.
